Platinum is an industrial product, has a profound use in view of its inherent and special chemical as well as physical properties like high corrosion resistance, thermal conductivity and catalytic nature. Being a very expensive metal to be used in its solid form, it is applied by Electro-deposition on titanium or niobium. Thus making it economical and at the same time retaining the advantages offered by solid platinum. AVAILABILITY: Anodes are available in the form of Sheet, mesh, pipe, wire, rod and custom built. 1) Electro dialysis, Electroforming Cathodic protection
2) Electrochemical sensing
3) Electro winning & refining of metals
4) Electrolytic regeneration of chromic acid
5) Electroplating for precious and base metals
6) Electrolytic production of sodium hypochlorite
7) Electro synthesis of Inorganic and organic chemicals.
RECOMANDATION:
Platinised titanium is for electrolytes having no fluoride; Platinised niobium anodes are for electrolytes having fluoride, where we need better conduction (its conductivity is three times of titanium) & also it is suitable for sulphuric acid chromium plating bath operated at current density greater than 75A / dm².
